Chaotic pendulum

HOW

1. At your disposal is a pendulum with a magnet at its centre.
2. There are also magnets in the base of the model.
3. Swing the centre of the pendulum out of its equilibrium position and observe its movement.

WHY

Two forces act on the centre of the pendulum:
1. The force of gravity
2. The magnetic field force that originates from the magnets in the base of the model.

As a result, its pendulum movement is difficult to predict and can be described as chaotic. Initially, when the force of gravity prevails, it is similar to the movement of an ordinary pendulum. After a while, when the displacements become smaller – magnetic forces start to prevail.
