Tubular bells
Tubular bells
HOW
1. Hit some pipes with a stick.
2. Each one makes a different sound, corresponding to the
tones of the scale:
c, d, e, f, g, a, h, c.
The tubular bells are tuned
within one octave.
3. Try playing a simple
tune, for example:
-> g e e f d d c e g
-> c d e c c d e c e f g e f g g a g f e c
-> e e f g g f e d c c e d d d d
e c d e f e c d e f e d c d g
WHY
By hitting the pipe, you create vibrations. Carried through the air, they reach the ears. The so-called standing wave is created in the pipe, the length of which depends on the pipe length. Related to the wavelength is its frequency, which in turn determines the pitch. The shorter the pipe, the higher the pitch.
