Abseiling
Abseiling
HOW
Climb up to the platform, grab the element attached to the rope and slide down it.
WHY
As you climb the platform, you increase the height you are at. Your potential energy increases. This is converted into kinetic energy during the descent. And this results in increased speed.
When you are stopped by the brake, your body continues to move under the force of inertia. Therefore, a jerk occurs and your body is ‘thrown’ in the direction of the original movement.
