Hydrogen molecule model
Hydrogen molecule model
HOW
You can see one blue dot each in the two posts by the alley you are standing on. They represent the nuclei of the hydrogen atoms that make up the H2 molecule.
WHY
Each atom is made up of a nucleus and a surrounding electron cloud. Almost all the atomic mass is concentrated in the nucleus. The nuclei of the hydrogen atoms in the H2 molecule are 0.074 nm apart. Our model is more than 500 billion times larger than the actual hydrogen molecule. The linear scale of the size of the atomic nuclei and the distances between them have been maintained. This shows perfectly how unevenly mass is distributed in matter!
