Tam-tam gong
Tam-tam gong
HOW
1. Strike the gong with a baton in the lighter area. Listen to the sound produced.
2. Move your hand close to the surface of the gong, but do not touch it.
WHY
The gong belongs to the group of idiophones, i.e., self-sounding instruments in which the sound source is a solid body with natural and unchanging elasticity.
When set into vibration, the gong plate induces the air to vibrate. It creates areas of increased and decreased density. This creates an acoustic wave that can be heard, and also felt.
ATTENTION!
Striking too hard can lead to cracks and damage to the gong. Remember: never hit the centre of the gong. This may damage it!
