HOW

1. Hit the triangles with a stick.
2. Explore how pitch and tone depend on: the size of the triangle, where you hit it and how you hit it.

WHY

The vibrations of the triangle caused by the impact spread along the bar. Once they reach one end, they return, overlapping with further vibrations that travel from the source. This creates a wave that we call a standing wave. The vibrations of the bar are transmitted to the air particles. The result is a sound wave with properties that depend on the size and shape of the triangle.
