In January 2021, construction work began on our new project: “The upgrade of the historic hangar along with the former boiler house building at 26a 2 Pułku Lotniczego Housing Estate in Krakow, as part of the project entitled Revitalisation of the historic aircraft hangar complex at 4 Izydora Stella-Sawickiego Street.”

The project is co-financed, among others, by the Regional Operational Programme of the Małopolskie Voivodeship 2014-2020. The project involves the revitalisation of a historic hangar listed in the Registry of Cultural Heritage of the City of Krakow, the revitalisation of the former boiler house adjacent to the hangar, the construction of an underground passageway leading from the hangar to the boiler house, and a change of use into a public utility building for the needs of a cultural institution – the Museum of Engineering and Technology in Krakow.

After the initial work of fencing off the project site and organising the construction site facilities, we began demolition work on the western and eastern extensions of the hangar. Demolition work is scheduled to be completed by the end of February 2021. Masonry work also began in January, involving the bricking up of old window openings on the south and east sides of the hangar. Since the start of the construction, work has also been underway inside the hangar involving the removal of reinforced concrete ducts and the existing floor. All construction work, due to the listing of the building in the Registry of Cultural Heritage, is performed under the supervision of conservator-restorers.
